THE PLOT 1974. A pandemic had an impact on the population, making the percentage of male births reach 1%. The disease caused abnormal hormonal activity, leading to the female population outnumbering the male one. Fidia on Display

The Capitoline Museums of Rome present a new monographic exhibition entirely dedicated to Phidias, the greatest sculptor of the classical age, from 24 November 2023 to 5 May 2024. The exhibition showcases a path that presents the biography together with the incredible artistic talent of Phidias. Living in Athens in the 4th century BC, Phidias went down in history for his work as a superintendent for the construction of the Parthenon and for the statue of Olympian Zeus (now disappeared), known as one of the seven wonders of the ancient world. Among the 100 works selected for this exhibition, you can admire numerous archaeological finds, paintings, manuscripts, drawings, and modern multimedia installations.




Andrea Pennacchi in "Harlequin?"

At the Teatro Ambra Jovinelli in Rome, from 21 February to 03 March 2024, the show "Arlecchino?" will take place. It's a revisitation of the mask of Arlecchino, interpreted by Andrea Pennacchi and brought into the contemporary world with all its characteristics as a comedy of art. The show is written and directed by Marco Baliani.





"Story of a Blackcap" by Verga

Enrico Guarnieri and Nadia De Luca will be on stage at the Quirino Theatre in Rome from 2 February to 3 March 2024 with the staging of "Storia di una capinera," a play based on one of the most famous novels by Giovanni Verga written in 1869. Set in Sicily in the second half of the 19th century, the play follows Mary's life, who was destined to become a cloistered nun due to economic problems. When Mary is sent home for a few months due to a cholera epidemic, she discovers life, freedom, and love outside the convent.




"Six Characters in Search of an Author" by Pirandello

From 27 February to 10 March 2024, the Teatro Sala Umberto in Rome will stage Luigi Pirandello's great masterpiece "Six Characters in Search of an Author," directed by Michele Sinisi. The plot follows six characters who, repudiated by the author, come to life and break into the theater to find an author who can complete their story. In this staging, surprise characters familiar to the theater scene will also burst on stage.




First Reggiani to with "Caravaggio: Il Maledetto"

"Caravaggio: Il Maledetto," with Primo Reggiani, Francesca Valtorta, and Fabrizio Bordignon, is scheduled at the Teatro Ghione in Rome from 29 February to 3 March 2024. Directed by Ferdinando Ceriani, the show is a free adaptation of the opera "Caravaggio, probabilmente" by Franco Molè. The show celebrates the life of the famous Italian painter Caravaggio, who made his life a work of art.




"Sea Outside - The Musical"

The TV series "Mare Fuori," much loved by the Italian public, arrives for the first time at the Teatro Brancaccio in Rome from 1 to 3 March 2024 in a new musical version directed by Alessandro Siani, with the original songs of the series. The story, set in the Nisida juvenile prison, portrays the difficult lives of a group of boys and their struggles behind bars.



"Iliad. The Game of the Gods"

From 13 to 24 March 2024, at Teatro Ambra Jovinelli in Rome, "Iliad. The Game of the Gods" will stage starring Alessio Boni and Iaia Forte. The show is based on the text of Francesco Niccolini and is freely inspired by Homer’s Iliad. The dramaturgy is by Roberto Aldorasi, Alessio Boni, Francesco Niccolini, and Marcello Prayer, known as the Quadrivio. The cast includes Haroun Fall, Jun Ichikawa, Francesco Meoni, Elena Nico, Marcello Prayer, and Elena Vanni.
