Usually, when we think of religious orders, these things come to mind: a cloister, an abbey, a library, prayer in solitude, detachment from the world… All this in the cradle of a period defined as "dark" by historiography up to Romanticism: the Middle Ages . In this period the monks - especially the Benedictines of the various orders - were the custodians of Judeo-Christian but also classical culture, since thanks to their patient and meticulous transcriptions as scribes we have received almost all of the Greek and Latin works which we study today. Today we are grateful to them first of all for this. However, many do not know that many products - material and immaterial - that we consume and use every day, come from monks who, using their ingenuity nourished by a profound spirituality, invented them due to practical necessities. Personally, I find it amazing! Let's begin… The heavy plow Plows were a primary agri...
ILLMATIC (1994)
The first album on my list is by the visionary NAS. It was released on April 19, 1994, by the famous record label Columbia Records. With this release, NAS managed to establish himself in the rap game, thanks to the beats of DJ Premier, Pete Rock, and Q-Tip. Many music critics describe this album as the best in the history of hip-hop, comparing the verses (where he sings for his deceased companions) to Latin odes like "The World Is Yours" and "One Love." I think the album is perfect, but its best songs are "Represent" and "N.Y. State of Mind."
This album was released in 2020 and was born from a collaboration between the producer Metro Boomin and the rapper 21 Savage. During the release, there was a lot of hype around this musical album because it's the second chapter of an album released in 2016. The album is embellished with the narration of the famous actor Morgan Freeman and collaborations with Drake and Young Thug. But the album was appreciated so much because the tracks produced by Metro fit perfectly with 21 Savage's voice.
Jacques Bermon Webster, known as Travis Scott, is one of the artists who have influenced hip-hop the most in recent years. Since the beginning of his musical journey, he has released many albums,
but if someone were to ask me what his best album is, without a doubt I would answer "Astroworld." This collection of songs isn’t just an album; it's a real journey into a playground. In fact, Travis named it “Astroworld” in honor of the playground where he grew up, which was closed in 2005. For this
reason, in the album, you can hear a melancholy tone from Travis, which is also accentuated by the feature with Frank Ocean. Astroworld is so appreciated by everyone because the artist has put a lot of work into each song, which is why it’s difficult to find a bad one, even though I think the main song "Sicko Mode" makes it a masterpiece.
GRADUATION (2007)
Last, but not least, is “Graduation” by the famous and controversial rapper and producer Kanye West. YE has produced many albums during his long recording career, but the best is “Graduation.”
This album is so good for the simple reason that West decided to change the standards of rap through songs like “Stronger” and “Barry Bonds.”
